FactoryTalk Optix: Rockwell Automation's Modern Answer to HMI/SCADA

Rockwell Automation introduced FactoryTalk Optix as a ground-up reimagining of its HMI/SCADA offering, built on a modern, web-native architecture rather than the legacy FactoryTalk View ME/SE codebase that has served the industry for over a decade.

Optix is designed for cross-platform deployment from the outset — the same project can target a panel-mounted HMI, a desktop SCADA client, or a browser-based interface accessible from a tablet or phone, without maintaining separate codebases for each.

This positions Rockwell to compete directly with the growing demand for Web SCADA-style remote access, while preserving compatibility with existing ControlLogix and CompactLogix PLC architectures that most Rockwell customers have already invested in.

For sites still running FactoryTalk View ME or SE, Optix represents a long-term migration path rather than an overnight switch — most integrators, including IMSI, are approaching it as the default choice for new HMI/SCADA projects while continuing to support and extend existing View-based systems.
